Hollywood FAQs: American actress Natalie Wood Wagner is in the news again. The actress died in mysterious circumstances in the year 1981 in the Pacific Ocean and at that time, many believed that the actress drowned under suspicious circumstances. The Los Angeles Police stated that they now have enough information to reopen the case so as to investigate in to her death. More details on the reopening of the case would be handed out at a press conference on November 18, 2011 in Los Angeles.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the actress, the captain of the boat off which Wood drowned prompted the police to re-examine the case. Recently, captain Dennis Davern was interviewed for a collaboration between the TV series ’48 Hours Mystery’ which focuses in the death of Wood and the magazine Vanity Fair. A special primetime would air on Saturday on November 19, 2011 at 10 pm on CBS.
The unfortunate incident with Wagner took place on November 29, 1981. On the day, the actress was along with actor Christopher Walken. At that time the death of the actress was investigated and was ruled out that it was an accident by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. It was then also reported that Wagner was full of wine at the time of the incident and tumbled off the yacht costing a quarter million dollars, when she was in her night gown. At that time her husband was sitting a few yards away. It was Wood’s sister Lana, who had asked the cops to re-open the case in the month of March last year.
When the body of the actress was found, she was seen wearing a parka and was believed that when she fell off the boat the parka got filled with water which had caused her to drown.
The ‘Splendor in the Grass’ actress was married twice to Robert Wagner and also Richard Gregson. She was famous for her roles in ‘Rebel Without A Cause’, Love with the Proper Stranger, Inside Daisy Clover among others.
