It looks like the ’90s are having a welcome comeback. 25 years ago, Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves starred in Mad About You and are coming together for another rom-com that will set your hearts soaring. Destination Wedding is their latest gig where both will star opposite each other in an unusual twist to love and fate.
Destination Wedding will focus on “two miserable and unpleasant wedding guests who develop a mutual affection despite themselves over the course of the weekend event.” Winona and Keanu’s characters are supposed to be repulsed by each other, but somehow find that their repulsion actually causes them to come closer together with a level of mutual attraction.
Producer for Destination Wedding, Robert Jones spoke about the film, saying: “When comedy is seated in character and truth it’s both funny and moving, and on that basis Vic’s screenplay is one of the best I’ve read in a long time. Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves are wonderfully skilfull actors and their chemistry on-screen truly brings these irascible characters to life.”
The two actors have also worked on A Scanner Darkly together, alongside Robert Downey Jr. and are known for taking on their roles to perfection. Winona Ryder is currently working on Netflix’s award-winning series, Stranger Things. Keanu Reeves is known for his more serious roles like he did in The Matrix trilogy and Speed, among others.
There’s already another film called Destination Wedding that released in 2017, but this is the one that fans will be looking forward to.
