Angelina Jolie talks about life after Brad Pitt divorce

It’s been nine months since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt. The former couple, who had been together for over twelve years, called it quits last fall after the actor allegedly got into a scuffle with their eldest son, Maddox. Being extremely private, the former A-list couple kept away from the media, until Pitt gave an interview where he opened up about a number of issues he’s been dealing with after the divorce. Angelina kept her dignity and didn’t make a single public statement, until now.

In an interview as the covergirl of Vanity Fair‘s September issue, the ethereal beauty is giving her side of what life is like post the split. She also spoke about a recent health scare that she has had to deal with.

Since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, she and the children stayed in rented homes around the world. However, they’re now finally settling down in a $25 million mansion in Los Angeles. Jolie says of the move, “It’s just been the hardest time, and we’re just kind of coming up for air. [This house] is a big jump forward for us, and we’re all trying to do our best to heal as our family.”

She continued, “[Our lifestyle] was not in any way a negative. That was not the problem. That is and will remain one of the wonderful opportunities we are able to give our children. They’re six very strong-minded, thoughtful, worldly individuals. I’m very proud of them.”

“We’re all just healing from the events that led to the filing… They’re not healing from the divorce. They’re healing from some… from life, from things in life.”

While focusing on the well-being of her children, the Wanted actress didn’t take care of herself, or her health as much. Then one day she began to notice she started getting grey hair and dry skin. “I can’t tell if its menopause or if it’s just been the year I’ve had. Sometimes women in families put themselves last until it manifests itself in their own health.” She was later diagnosed with Bell’s palsy.

“I actually feel like more of a woman because I’m being smart about my choices, and I’m putting my family first, and I’m in charge of my life and my health. I think that’s what makes a woman complete.”

And how is life now as a single mother of six children, starting all over again? “I’ve been trying for nine months to be really good at just being a homemaker and picking up dog poop and cleaning dishes and reading bedtime stories. And I’m getting better at all three.”
