From the list of movies done by Johnny Depp, it can well be imagined how much the actor has earned. Over the course of his career, he has been involved with some of the most commercially successful films. From Edward Scissorhands to Blow to Pirates Of The Caribbean, he’s been at the top of his game. His professional life is going aces, but what goes on behind the scenes is apparently a totally different story. According to his former managers, he has a spending habit that goes on a scale of being an irresponsible spendthrift to complete preposterousness!
According to court papers filed by The Management Group, the 53-year-old actor spends at least $30,000 a month on wine alone. He is known for his ample wine cellars and envious collection of reds and whites. And he goes on to spend “hundreds of thousands of dollars” on a person who is hired to speak movie lines into the ears of the actor while he is shooting. Johnny Depp is so fancy, he doesn’t like learning lines for movies, so someone just feeds it to him. Through a ear-piece!
It was Depp who filed a lawsuit against The Management Group, stating that they had swindled around $28 million by spending on items that he never agreed upon. However, the Group countersued, stating in their claim that all Johnny’s spending was on his habits.
The claim by The Management Group states that, “Depp’s extravagant spending has often been marked by lack of impulse control. In retrospect, it appears that Depp may suffer from a compulsive spending disorder, which will be proven in this action through a mental examination of Depp and an expert testimony. On information and belief, Depp’s flagrant bragging about his senseless and extreme spending to The Wall Street Journal is further evidence of his psychological issues.”
If you are in denial about Captain Jack Sparrow’s spending habits then imagine this: he paid $3 million to have Hunter S Thompson’s ashes shot through a cannon. And he also owns chateaus, villas and a private island that together cost $75 million.
