Hollywood FAQs: Popular stand up comedian, Wanda Sykes, had recently shocked her fans when she revealed that she had been through a mastectomy earlier this year. In a recent interview on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, Wanda revealed that she was suffering from breast cancer earlier this year.
Sykes said that there were several factors and facts that had forced her to take the massive decision. The 47-year-old actress said that she had breast cancer which happened to get diagnosed when she was going through a regular cosmetic procedure.
The doctors had then given the ‘Monster-in-law’ actress a choice that she could get it checked every three months. By having a mammogram every three months the actress could have a watch on it.
Moreover, Sykes had even said that there were many cases of breast cancer on her mother’s side of family, which had also made her vulnerable. Due to all the facts and circumstances the actress had taken the major decision to go through a bilateral mastectomy.
In the year 2004, the actress was named as one of the funniest people in America.
