A beauty, indeed! Hollywood actress Amber Heard looks resplendent as Mera, Queen of Atlantis and Aquaman’s love interest in DC Comic’s upcoming movie, Justice League. Aquaman, played by Jason Momoa (who also played Khal Drogo on HBO’s Game Of Thrones), got a few seconds in 2016’s debacle that was Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, if you didn’t blink your eyes. He, along with the Flash and Cyborg were honorable mentions during the film, but we will be seeing plenty of our favorite comic book heroes in the upcoming DC Comics films, produced by Warner Bros.
And for Mera, played by Amber Heard, the look was created by costume designer, Michael Wilkinson and illustrator, Ian Joyner. IGN was the first to release the official image of the new Queen of Atlantis. Heard wears a golden crown upon her head and green, shiny scales to match with her residence under the sea. Though the character of Mera will not play a major role in the upcoming Justice League movie, you can expect some more action from her with Aquaman’s stand-alone movie as well as future Justice League follow-ups in 2017 and 2018. In fact, Aquaman is looking for a release date on July 27, 2018 in theaters worldwide.
In what would seem unrelated, but somehow still relatable news, the Internet is already commenting about Heard’s role in the movie. Not the role, as much as Heard herself. A couple of months ago, fans were shocked about her domestic violence charge against then-husband, Johnny Depp, considering he is one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood, while Heard is relatively unknown. Still, to bring her personal life and compare it with a fictional character on-screen is unfair, no? But, in a world where the likes of Donald Trump are allowed to run as future President of the same country, it women might still be considered lesser beings.
Justice League will feature DC Comics’ biggest superheroes, including Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, J. K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and now, Amber Heard as Mera. Zak Snyder has directed the movie that is looking to be released on November 17, 2017.
