British folk-rock band Mumford and Sons have cancelled three of their sold-out concerts in the United States this week. On June 11, 2013, the band announced that their bassist Ted Dwane needed an emergency surgery due to a blood clot on the brain. Back in February 2013, the band won the Album of the Year for ‘Babel’ at the Grammy Awards.
They also won the British Group award at the Brit Awards. The band informed their fans that Dwane was feeling unwell for a few days and was taken to hospital on Monday, June 10, 2013 for an emergency treatment. The band made an announcement on its official website which read, “The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation”.
The statement added that Dwane is receiving great care and that they are being assured that he will recover from the surgery very quickly. The four-member band was formed in 2007 and Dwane plays bass, guitar, drums and also sings. They also informed that they were cancelling concerts in Dallas on June 11, 2013, Woodlands on June 12, 2013 and New Orleans on June 13, 2013.
The band also assured that it does not have any plans to cancel or postpone any other appearances on its current ‘Summer Stampede’ tour.
