Robert De Niro has been honored in Hollywood by getting his hands and feet cast in cement outside the historic Chinese Theater in tinsel town on February 4, 2013. The actor looked happy at the occasion and was in a jovial mood, cracking jokes and reflecting over his career.
The 69-year-old actor has stared in a variety of gangster movies in the past. During his thank you speech he reflected on this fact in jest, saying that actor Joe Pesci used to tell him that he would end up with his feet in cement one day. The ‘Raging Bull’ has had a 40-year career in films and is widely regarded as one of the best actors of his time.
The ‘Meet the Parents’ star has also contributed to society. He founded the Tribeca Film Festival in 2002, following the September 11, 2011 attacks, as he tried to bring the lower Manhattan area back to life. The ‘Analyze This’ actor was endorsed by Billy Crystal at the ceremony. Crystal has worked with De Niro in the past, saying that he could make the audience laugh even during his darkest performances.
After winning Oscars in the past for ‘The Godfather: Part II’ and ‘Raging Bull’, De Niro is up for a third Oscar for his role in ‘Silver Linings Playbook’.
