Pop star Shakira and partner Gerard Pique have a reason to rejoice as they become parents to a newborn baby boy. The Colombian-Lebanese singer gave birth in Spain on January 22, 2013.
The couple has named their newborn son Milan. Shakira’s website read, “Dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification”. A statement was posted on Tuesday which said that the couple are happy with the birth of Milan Pique Mebarak, who was born at 09:36 at Barcelona, Spain.
Like his father, the new born baby has also become a member of FC Barcelona right from his birth. The singer earlier in the day had posted a message saying, “I’d like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life. Shak.” Apart from this message, the singer had also posted a message in Spanish.
The weight of the newborn is 6 pounds and 6 ounces and both mother and baby are in great health. In the month of December 2012, the soccer star had posted on Twitter that his son has been born on Spain’s Dia De Los Inocentes which is similar to April Fool’s Day that is usually celebrated in America. The couple have been dating for two years now and Shakira announced her pregnancy in September 2012.
