American singer Lady Gaga recently announced that she would donate $1 million to the Hurricane Sandy Relief effort. The singer wrote a message on her Little Monsters Website to New York and The American Red Cross and broke the news.
Gaga explained that she wants to help the place that shaped her as a woman and artist. The singer wrote, “Today I pledge 1 million dollars to New York & The American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy Relief”. Gaga also said that if it wasn’t for NYC, then she wouldn’t have been the woman or artist that she is today.
The singer continued to say that New York has a relentless ambition and drive to succeed and is also a place where there is a natural pursuit of diversity through compassion. Gaga appealed to accept the gift on behalf of her and her parents Joe and Cynthia, as well as her sister Natali with the deepest gratitude to New York for raising them.
The singer also thanked the city in helping her build her spirit. Even producer Simon Cowell donated $25,000 to the Hurricane Sandy relief effort, while the Jersey Shore cast is all set to join in for a fundraising special later in the month.
