A Los Angeles court has dismissed a lawsuit against American singer Britney Spears on November 1, 2012, which was filed by her self-proclaimed ex-manager Sam Lufti. The lawsuit was dismissed citing insufficient evidence to move forward.
Earlier, Lufti had filed a law suit against the singer and her parents alleging defamation, assault and breach of contract. While dismissing the case, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Suzanne Bruguera said, “I really thought long and hard. It’s the right thing to do, so I am going to do it”.
Lufti claimed that the singer had hired him as her manager in the year 2007 and that he was entitled to 15 percent of the singers earnings during the months that he had represented her. The judge also dismissed Lufti’s claims that Brittany’s mother Lynne had brought disrepute to his name in her book. Lufti alleged that in her 2008 book Through The Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, Lynne claimed that Lufti isolated Spears from her family.
The lawsuit against Lufti’s father Jamie Spears was also dismissed by the judge. Lufti accused Jamie of punching him in 2008, when the singer was in a Los Angeles psychiatric ward. In an earlier testimony, Lufti claimed that he tried to steer Spears away from drugs and as a result he was a positive influence on her life.
