American singer and song writer, Donna Summer died at the age of 63 on May 18, 2012. The family released a statement informing about the sad news which revealed that she has been battling with cancer.
The family statement said, “Early this morning, we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith. While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy. Words truly can’t express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time.” Celebrities from the music industry paid tributes to the singer.
Kylie Minogue and Pete Waterman were among those, who paid tributes to the singer. Even US disco legend Gloria Gaynor mourned the death of her fellow singer from Morocco when she had performed in a music festival.
The singer at a press conference said that it is a very sad occasion and a huge loss for the music industry. Summer has been known for her hits including, ‘I Feel Love’ and ‘Love To Love You Baby’. The deceased singer was born in Boston and learned to sing in church before she fronted a series of bands and also appeared in musicals.
