Hollywood FAQs: American actor and novelist Gene Hackman was recently hospitalized after he was hit by a pick up truck from behind. Hackman has been admitted with bruises and bumps on January 13, 2012 as he was riding his bicycle in Florida Keys.
The publicist of the ‘Mississippi Burning’ actor stated that he was hospitalized for a brief period and was airlifted in a hospital in Miami and was released several hours later. The publicist added that the actor went through some routine tests and was released several hours later. The actor was riding his bike without a helmet at around 3 pm on Islamorada street after which he was thrown at a grassy shoulder. No charges were reported immediately.
During his career, Hackman has won two Academy Awards and has been nominated for three others. In the year 1971, the actor was awarded the best Actor trophy for Jimmy Popoye Doyle in ‘The French Connection’. In the year 1992, the actor bagged the Best Supporting Actor Award for ‘Unforgiven’. Hackman has a prestigious career spanning five years and was first noticed in the year 1967 after he started off in the year 1956 with the Pasadena Playhouse in California. This was when they were determined to prove them wrong. Hackman then hopped in a bus to New York and never looked back since then.
