Welcome Eli Christopher Ivery to the world
Paging Dr. Meredith Grey – you are a mommy for the third time! Grey’s Anatomy star, Ellen Pompeo had the perfect Christmas gift this year – she welcomed a healthy baby boy, her third child and first son, named Eli Christopher Ivery. Her rep said in an official statement about the growing family: “Family and baby are all doing great.”
Taking to Instagram soon after the birth, the star who plays the lead in the hit medical drama series, Grey’s Anatomy that is now in its 13th successful season, used the caption: “Chris Ivery just fell a notch. I’ve got a new guy.” She was referring to her husband, music producer Chris Ivery and her newborn cuddling and looking content as ever in the image.
Ellen and her husband were seen taking the newborn for a hike in a carrier around LA, his first time out in the world since his birth, as posted by The Daily Mail.
Pompeo and Ivery were married back in November 2007, and are proud parents to Stella Luna (7) and Sienna May (2). Though Stella was conceived naturally, Sienna was born via surrogate, a practice that is gaining amazing popularity among couples who are finding it harder to conceive.
During her interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Ellen was open about the procedure and the entire process, that involved a surrogate mother and conception through IVF treatment. She said: “This is an incredible thing to do with your life, to give the gift of carrying someone’s child. I am forever grateful and feel very blessed and grateful to her – she who will remain anonymous. I was there with her when they inseminated her, and we held hands. I looked into the microscope and I saw the embryo. I saw the baby, and they put it in a thingy, and they inseminated her. And then we held hands, and we prayed, we talked to God, and if she was meant to be. He said he was going to try to help us out, and now we have a gorgeous baby girl.”
And she has always been a fan of becoming a mother. Back in 2009, when she was expecting her first child, Stella she has said in a magazine interview: “Chris and I enjoy our life so much. We go to Europe and sleep in. So when I have the baby, I won’t feel like we’ve missed any fun, reckless times together, like staying up all night drinking champagne and having sex until five in the morning and not having to get up until two in the afternoon.”
