Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Could’t help it, had to sing it. Probably one of the greatest legends in the music world, Freddie Mercury started a musical revolution with his band Queen and decades later, we are still singing along to his ethereal hits. It’s so awesome to learn then, that a biopic on his life is being created and one of our favorite stars of the time, Rami Malek has been cast in the lead role.

Rami, who plays Elliot Alderson, a hacker-cum-security engineer with anti-social issues in the hit Amazon series, Mr. Robot has become a cult hit with his acting prowess and portrayal of the character. He was awarded the prestigious Best Actor award for this year’s Emmy, beating Kevin Spacey for his ruthless character in House of Cards. People love him everywhere.

X-Men director, Bryan Singer will also be directing the biopic of the late pop icon, called Bohemian Rhapsody and made an exciting announcement of the lead cast on his Instagram

He put up the original image of the band for their cover of the song, and captioned it: “#bohemianrhapsody #queen #freddiemercury #brianmay #rogertaylor #johndeacon #grahamking #fox #newregency Looking forward to @ramimalek @whoismrrobot playing #Freddie”

These will be big shoes to fill for Rami, not that he’s not capable of absolutely killing it. He will need to not only watch numerous videos of the eccentric late star, but also go for some serious voice coaching lessons to hit those notes, because, boy there is rarely a man who can do it like Freddie did. Remember Kanye West and his debacle of a show, trying to equate himself with the icon? Puh-lease, have a seat, Kanye!

Freddie Mercury-led Queen spawned several hits over the span of their career, but his life was cut-short when he was taken over by a little-known virus at the time, sexually transmitted disease, HIV. He died in 1991 of pneumonia complications related to AIDS. But what he left behind was pure musical magic.
