Another summer is here and another romance is dead. Hollywood A-list couple Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are getting divorced. It is believed that Amber filed divorce papers citing “irreconcilable differences” and sought spousal support in court papers dated May 20. This comes just 3 days after Depp’s beloved mother, Betty Sue Palmer died and 15 months after they tied the knot in a lavish ceremony.
Johnny was quick to file his response through his lawyers, requesting the court to dismiss the spousal support claims by his soon-to-be ex-wife. They did not sign a prenuptial agreement (as is common among the rich and famous) and if Amber wins, she is looking to gain a fortune from the Pirates Of The Caribbean star. It seems that he earned a whopping $350 million from the hit franchise alone and has multiple acre properties around the world including St. Tropez, though Amber earns a paycheck of a few hundred thousand dollars a film.

The pair met on the sets of their dud film, The Rum Diaries back in 2011 and began dating. They married in February of 2015 and though they don’t share any children together, they do have two dogs that came in the limelight a month ago when they were illegally transported to Australia and the two submitted an awkward apology to escape jail time.
Johnny was in a long-term relationship with French singer and actress, Vanessa Paradis and shares children Lilly-Rose and Jack with her. Amber hasn’t had any significant relationships and this was her first marriage to the famous hunk of Hollywood.
Soon after the divorce announcement reached tabloids, there were multiple speculations about the reason as to why these two were calling it quits so soon. Among the rumors were accusations that Amber was “hated” by Depp’s family and that she waited for her mother-in-law to pass so she could go ahead and end their union. Another rumor claimed that she wanted to make money off Depp and waited long enough to qualify seeking spousal support. Depp has replied to those rumors through his rep, stating he will not respond to any of the “salacious false stories”.
When Johnny was asked why he decided to marry Amber in the first place, he said that because she is very well-read, is an aficionado of the blues and is beautiful. Seems to be quite a flimsy reason to settle down with a woman, especially since Amber stated in another interview that she is fiercely independent and is afraid that marriage will tie her down.
Neither have appeared in public since the announcement, though Depp is busy filming for the new installment of Pirates Of The Caribbean and promoting Alice Through The Looking Glass.
