On Monday, December 7th, TMZ.com released a leaked video of Suicide Squad actor and 30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto dissing Taylor Swift and her music while trying to gain inspiration from it in the bargain! Before we continue with this article, first view the video HERE.
The guy who submitted the video to the entertainment news channel apparently informed them that the video had been stolen and was actually meant to be a private recording. He didn’t even sign any documents with the celebrity tabloid. However, TMZ.com went ahead and published it everywhere, which ended up getting them more attention then they’d asked for – because now they seem to be in some legal troubles.
Jared Leto now says that he is going to sue them and parent company, Warner Bros. for breach of privacy and defamation.
He said via THR: “Last Sunday, I was alerted TMZ had acquired personal and private video footage of me in my home and that they were planning to leak it on their site. My team notified TMZ immediately that I fully owned the footage and that their source had absolutely no rights to sell it. They chose to post it anyway. Let’s be clear. This was stolen footage. This was an invasion of privacy. And it was both morally and legally wrong.”
He added that he chose to file the lawsuit, “not because I wanted to, but in hopes it will encourage more people to stop trafficking in stolen goods, to follow proper legal procedure and so that it may motivate additional consideration for the harm these acts can create, especially when the only intention is to simply further the bottom line for the companies and corporations that commit these acts.”
The star in the meantime tried to do some damage control by publicly announcing on his Twitter account that he thinks TS is amazing and he didn’t mean to hurt anybody by making those statements.
TMZ.com is yet to respond, but continues to expose celebrities!
