Comedian Marty Ingels passes away at 79

American actor and comedian Marty Ingels, who was married to singer and actress Shirley Jones, passed away in Los Angeles on October 21, 2015. The actor was 79 years old and was married to Jones for about 40 years. Ingels died after some complications after stroke in Tanzania neighborhood.

 

A statement was released by manager Milt Suchin on behalf of Jones. The actress in a statement said, “He often drove me crazy, but there’s not a day I won’t miss him and love him to my core”. Born as Martin Ingerman in Brooklyn, the actor later moved to Los Angeles. Ingels has appeared in various movies and in a number of TV shows including ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show’, ‘Bewitched’ and ‘The Phyllis Diller Show’.
Ingels also co-starred in the 1962-63 comedy show ‘Im Dickens, He’s Fenster’. The actor has also lent his voice for hundreds of cartoons, video games and commercials and has also voice Pac-man in the 1982 animated series. Marty also ran a talent agency which booked the movie stars like Cary Grant and John Wayne for TV commercials.
Ingels got married to Shirley in 1977 and their book ‘Shirley & Marty: An Unlike Love Story’ was published in 1990.
