Colombian singer and songwriter Shakira has confirmed that she will not be returning for the fifth season of ‘The Voice’. On May 14, 2013, after the Top 12 Elimination show, the star was asked by the press if she would be back for the next season to which she said that she will surely not be there for the next season.
Shakira explained that she wants to get back to her baby, 4-month old son Milan, as she wishes to give him some time, love and dedication. The singer also added that she wants to focus on her new album which she is working on.
The ‘Waka Waka’ singer joined the NBC reality competition this season and said that she would consider another reality series in the future. Now that Shakira is definitely leaving the show, there are reports circulating that Christina Aguilera will be brought in to replace her. More reports said that Aguilera might also get $12 million for her appearance. However, these news reports have not been confirmed by the makers of the show.
Change is expected in the coaching slots. Executive producer Mark Burnett was quoted saying that not everyone can coach for life as those are people with current recording in the game and the show is not their regular job.
