The statement said, “Laura and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our grandchild, Margaret Laura ‘Mila’ Hager. Mila, daughter of Jenna and Henry Hager, is named for her grandmothers. She was born last night, April 13, at 8:43 p.m. in New York City.” The statement added that the couple had met their granddaughter and the whole family is elated.

The first pictures of the little bundle of joy was tweeted by Jenna, who is an education correspondent on Today. Mila has become the first grandchild for George and Laura Bush and also the first niece for Jenna’s twin Barbara. In the month of December 2012, Jenna announced that she and her husband were expecting a baby.

Jenna and her husband Henry Chase Hager tied the knot in May 10, 2008, in a private ceremony. A wedding reception was hosted for Jenna and Henry at the White House at the time. Henry had proposed to Jenna on Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park in Maine. The two had met during Bush’s 2004 presidential campaign.
