Popular American journalist and movie critic Roger Ebert, on April 3, 2013, shared sad news with the readers of his blog. The movie critic said that he was taking some time out of the public eye, after his recent painful fracture which has impaired his ability to walk.
Ebert is at present undergoing radiation treatment, which cut his attendance at movies, due to which the number of films that he can review has reduced. The 70-year-old wrote, “My friend and colleague Richard Roeper and other critics have stepped up and kept the newspaper and website current with reviews of all the major releases”.
This is not the first time the journalist is suffering from cancer. An earlier ailment had caused him to lose his ability to speak. However, the critic assured that he would not be away for long. On April 9, 2013, Ebert will be re-launching his site Rogerebert.com and his popular movie event Eberfest, which will proceed as per scheduled from April 17-21, 2013.
The Eberfest will be conducted at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, where he studied and is also his hometown. The movie critic will also continue to assist with the bio-documentary, which is based on his life with filmmakers Steve Zaillian, Steve James and Martin Scorsese.
