Wolverine has always been at the heart of ‘The X-Men’ series and Hugh Jackman takes over the role once again, for what will be his sixth showing as the character. The new movie is titled ‘The Wolverine’ and will be hitting theaters on July 26, 2013. The flick has been directed by James Mangold and is set in Japan.
With an Asian setting, it is natural for the director to turn to martial arts as part of the action sequences, as can be seen by the trailer that has been released for the flick. The short trailer shows Jackman being led away from a bar fight by a beautiful woman named Yukio, played by Rila Fukushima. He is then taken to a facility where he is offered the chance to gain mortality.
The role of the villain is played by Svetlana Khodchenkova, who is The Viper, with Tao Okamoto playing Mariko Yashida. Will Yun Lee is playing the Silver Samurai and the flick follows the ‘Wolverine’ miniseries that was written by Chris Claremont in the 1980’s.
There are a multitude of X-Men movies that Jackman has now been a part off. This includes spin-offs of the Wolverine series, as well as a camero in ‘X-Men: First Class’.
