Former WWE champion and movie star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is accustomed to being a tough guy, both on the silver screen and off. However, in his latest action thriller, ‘Snitch’, which opened in US theaters on Friday, February 22, 2013, he faced a new challenge in his career – playing a real-life character.
Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, ‘Snitch’ is based on a true story of a man (played by Johnson), whose son is falsely accused in a drug deal and faces decades in jail. In order to save him, Dwayne makes a deal with the DEA to go undercover and arrest the real criminals.
Johnson, who is a star of the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise and ‘The Mummy Returns’, says this movie was unlike any other he has done before. The actor was drawn to the story of a regular family man who goes out and risks his life to save his family. The star said this was exactly what ‘The Rock’ would do. Being a father himself (the actor has a daughter with his ex-wife), he admits he connected with the ‘Snitch’ character and his vulnerability.
‘Snitch’ is just one of many projects for the extremely busy actor. According to popular reports, he has 9 movies coming up, 6 of which are scheduled for a 2013 release. One of the his most anticipated movies is ‘Fast & Furious 6’, without a doubt.
