The People’s Choice Awards were held on January 9, 2013 in Los Angeles, USA. Blockbuster movie ‘The Hunger Games’ tore through the competition racking up 5 awards at the glamorous event. The movie accumulated awards for being the Favorite Movie Franchise, Action Movie, On-screen Chemistry, Actress and Favorite Movie.
Jennifer Lawrence, who is the female lead in the action-packed ‘The Hunger Games’, won the award for ‘Face of Heroism’ as well. Chris Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Lawrence won the award for favorite on-screen chemistry in what is now a must-watch film for anyone who has not yet seen it.
Another big winner on the night was singer Katy Perry, who won awards for being the fans’ favorite pop and female artist, along with winning the favorite video award for ‘Part of Me’. Taylor Swift has been in the news of late for her personal life, but the country singer won the award for Favorite Country Singer, in what turned out to be a controversial presentation ceremony for the star yet again.
Among awards for TV series, winners in various categories included Supernatural, The New Normal, Castle, Grey’s Anatomy and Big Bang Theory, which won the award for Favorite Network or TV Comedy.
There were a host of other awards and categories with Emma Watson winning Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress, Sandra Bullock came away with Favorite Humanitarian award and Ellen DeGeneres showed why she is the queen of daytime TV by taking home her 13th award for Favorite Daytime TV Host.
