Blake Shelton’s Not So Family Christmas has been in the news of late. The hour-long Holiday show hosted by country singer Blake Shelton on NBC was a blast right from the start. The ‘Honey Bee’ singer was dressed in an elf’s costume complete with red tights, a green robe and felt head-gear as he started singing “Chestnut roasting in open fire”. The star-studded show included big names like Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera among others.
From Christmas carols, colourful slang and even a punch up (which was why it was called a ‘not so family show’), the show had it all to entertain the audience and surely anyone who watched the show was in splits.
One of the best moments of the production was Shelton singing “Cheers, its Christmas”, a special song from his holiday album with all his guests. Also, when Shelton sang “Time for me to come home” along with his mother Dorothy Shackleford, it created the perfect atmosphere, arousing the homecoming feel of Christmas.
Besides poking fun and beating up each other along with various rib tickling moments in the show, there were few emotional moments too, like when Mrs. Shelton made an appearance and the much-in-love duo sang a heart touching “Home”.
Overall the show was a blockbuster with all the elements to cheer viewers up and get the audience in sync with Christmas spirit.
