After an exciting final episode of the 15th season of the popular celebrity dance reality show ‘Dancing With The Stars’, Melissa Rycroft and her partner Tony were crowned the winners of the season on November 27, 2012. For the first time in the show’s history, the finale had all female finalists, including Shawn Johnson and Kelly Monaco.
The winners were declared using a magic combination of the judges’ points and fans’ votes. Before the winner of the season was crowned the finale had plenty of excitement, with Drew Lache bringing his 5-year-old daughter Isabella on stage for a Cha Cha and Gilles Marini doing the ‘Gangnam Style’ once again.
Meanwhile, the finalists were preparing for their last test which was an insta-dance that had to be prepared in less than an hour before performance time. Shawn hoped for a jive even though he knew that Kelly and Val Chmerkovkiy had already snagged jive. This left Shawn and Derek Hough with a Cha cha and Melissa with a samba yet again.
After Kelly’s jive one of the judges Bruno Tonioli said, “You two, you have the energy of two young randy rabbits, going at each other!” When Melissa heard that she was the winner of the mirror ball trophy, she leaped to Tony’s arms and Tony’s reaction had to be beeped out. This left the audience speculating as to whether the two were actually seeing each other behind the scenes.
