The Melbourne Cup was greeted with rain this year, however that did not dampen the spirits of Hollywood stars Mischa Barton and Rose Byrne. Barton arrived early and caught photographers off-guard with her stunning headgear.
Apart from Barton and Byrne, the star of ‘Revenge’ Ashley Madekwe was seen partying with local celebrities at Flemington in the VIP compound. Taylor Armstrong, who is a star on ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ was also spotted in the VIP box.
The highlight of the day however was ‘The OC’ star Mischa Barton and her headwear. She walked in early and stopped to talk to many TV hosts and mentioned that she found the Melbourne Cup to be more laid back than races in the UK. Emirates and the Victoria Racing Club had Barton over as a guest for the race.
Rose Byrne was the major home grown star for the evening and attracted attention as she walked the red carpet and interacted with the media. Byrne went on to say that she was thrilled to be at the event. She went on to say that her father was really into the races and that they had always put on a bet for the Melbourne Cup.
Australian cricketer Shane Warne was also spotted at the event with James Packer, as they shared a smoke on the deck of the Crown marquee.
