Dmitry Sholokhov on October 18, 2012 was announced as the winner at the season finale of ‘Project Runway’. The creator and host Heidi Klum told Sholokhov, “Dmitry, you are the winner of Project Runway! You have your wings – so go and fly!”
The former ballroom dancer on his win reacted that this was the biggest day in his life. Sholokhov added, “I just won Project Runway and I don’t know how the f–k I made it to this point…I’m beyond happy and proud.”
Sholokhov left behind the other contestants Fabio Costa, Christopher Palu and Melissa Fleis. The winner was announced after the final four resented their final collection in a Lincoln Centre runaway show during the New York Fashion Week in the month of September.
After the runway show ended, the New York based designer’s line was raved by the panel, which included Heidi Klum, Jennifer Hudson and Michael Kors. The panel talked about the organic architecture of the line and also the geometrical shape inspired details, which helped the line to stand out. Klum said that she personally loved it while Kors felt that it was the most wearable of the remaining contestants. Costa claimed the second position with the Cosmic Tribalism collection.
