Brad Pitt donates $100,000 to gay civil rights organization

When Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced their engagement, everyone was excited, as finally one of Hollywood’s hottest couples were going to get hitched. However, Angie and Brad said that they would only get married when everyone, including gay people, would be able to get married legally.

The ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ couple have kept their promise so far and have not yet married; now the stars have also kept their word on their support for the cause. Brad will be donating a whopping $100,000 to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), which is the country’s largest lobbying organization for gay civil rights.

It appears that the ‘Troy’ star is trying to woo his gay fan club members, and is going to match any donations made to HRC within the next 24 hours. The donation comes at a crucial time, as there are ballot initiatives in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington on election day, which could outlaw same sex marriages.  The ‘Thelma & Loiuse’ star does not have any upcoming movies, so it is doubtful that this is a publicity stunt.

In a letter to the HRC’s website, the star said that it is unbelievable that people’s lives and relationships are literally being voted on in a matter of days. Meanwhile Angie and Brad are engaged, but yet to get married, and they may wait for the ballot on gay marriage to clear first.
