Hugh Jackman reveals details of tough childhood

Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman who has just celebrated his 40th birthday, spoke recently to an Australian publication saying that he and his siblings were abandoned by their mother when he was just 8 years old. The Australian actor described his life with his two sisters and two brothers in Sydney, after his mother Grace left them to go to back to the UK.

According to Jackman, his mother informed them that she had left via a telegram and it was only after the star had grown to be 13 years old, that he realized that she was not coming back. The X-Men star spoke about how he felt ‘horrible’ when people used to talk about him and look at him differently because it was odd for a mother to leave her family.

The Kate & Leopold actor also described that he never felt that his mother had not loved them; she was going through post-natal depression and she did not have a support network in Sydney where she could overcome the disease.

Jackman went on to say that after having children, he understands the pressure his mother was under and that it adds a level of empathy and understanding. The A-list celebrity closed saying that there comes a time when you have to stop blaming other people for life’s misfortunes and move ahead.
