All of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s fans will be overjoyed to know that the sought after action star is all set to grace the silver screen as a superhero very soon. Director Shane Black, known for Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys, had earlier claimed in an interview that he would like to rope in Dwayne Johnson to play the role of Doc Savage and it is now official that the former wrestler will be playing the role of the world’s first superhero.
Doc Savage was created by Henry W. Ralston and John L. Nanovic back in 1933. Savage is a person who is trained by his scientist father and has superhuman abilities. He is an inventor, surgeon, physician, adventurer, researcher and musician along with extremely high strength, endurance and memory. It is believed that Doc Savage is the inspiration behind many of today’ superhero characters. Shane will direct Dwayne Johnson as Doc Savage for Sony Pictures and the movie looks set to be a cracker.
Dwayne Johnson will be gearing up for shooting as soon as he finishes his current projects. Johnson is currently busy with Central Intelligence that premieres on June 17th. He will be following that will Moana, which is an animated movie by Disney, in November and will be seen as Hobbs in Fast and Furious 8 in April next year. May 2017 will have Dwayne showing off his perfect abs on sandy beaches in Baywatch.
Dwayne has stated that the reason he has agreed to be Doc Savage is because he believes the character is a “Hilarious Weirdo” and that excites him. Initially Chris Helmsworth of Thor had been in the reckoning to play the role but Shane Black finally decided to cast the wrestling superstar as Clark Savage. Johnson and the creative team spent the entire Memorial Day weekend going over the script and discussing ideas about the project.
One thing that is certain is the fact that Dwayne Johnson as Doc Savage is definitely a news that will delight many traditional comic fans across the world.
