Dark Side Of A Fairytale – The Huntsman: Winter’s War

Snow White And The Huntsman was a dark take on one of our favorite fairytales of the princess who falls under an evil woman’s spell and finds her way to salvation through helpful dwarves and true love. Though Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth did a pretty decent job with their acting, the overall film was haphazard and boring at best. Of course, Snow White is going to be nowhere in this film because she botched the marketing of the previous one with her affair with then-married Director, Rupert Sanders.

But this year there’s the prequel to the Snow White story that’s called Winter’s War. It would have been nice if the production house had thought of releasing the flick in December, because now all that snow and furry coating will be very insulting in the summer season.

So The Huntsman: Winter’s War focuses on the young life of huntsman, Eric and his entanglement with Ravenna’s icy sister, Freya. The plot looks just as confusing as the previous movie was, but hopefully this time it makes more sense. Of course, expect a very convincingly evil performance from Charlize Theron, as she reprises her role as the dark queen Ravenna. Also added to the mix are Emily Blunt as Freya and Jessica Chastain as Sara and the Huntsman’s love interest.

From the musical perspective, Halsey has rendered her pitch perfect voice for the movie, providing a remixed version to her original single, Castle from her debut album, Badlands. The video for the track is beautiful and Halsey looks resplendent. Check out Castle (The Hunstman: Winter’s War Version) HERE. Listen now to the audio from SoundCloud:
