Kim Kardashian and Kanye West miss security check

The arrival of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at the JFK Airport had set off a security scare February 12, 2013, when a starstruck staffer had helped the pair bypass a checkpoint. The celebrity couple, now known as ‘Kimye’ were returning from Brazil.

The couple had passed through customs and were transferring to a flight which was bound for Los Angeles, when an American Airlines employee helped them slip by a screening area. The Hollywood couple was pulled from their plane and were then put through the security check that they had missed.

A spokesperson said, “An airline employee escorted the two travelers through a non-public area in order to provide expedited access to their domestic flight”. The spokesperson added that in doing so the employee of the airline violated security protocols by permitting the travelers to bypass the security checkpoint of the TSA (Transportation Security Administration).

When TSA officials learnt of the security violation, they immediately rushed to the star couple’s plane. Kim and Kanye had made it to their connecting flight, but the employees of TSA had forced them to disembark. It would come as some relief to passengers that security at JFK Airport is not taken lightly and that celebrities are no exceptions to the rule.
