Les Miserables, Argo, Homeland win at 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards

Every year the world looks forward to the awards show that honors the best in television and film. This year, the 70th edition of the Golden Globe Awards was held at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday January 13, 2013. The event saw Les Miserables and Argo winning big in what turned out to be a great night for the film community.

The award for the Best Motion Picture, Drama was taken by Ben Affleck’s Argo, with Les Miserables winning in the top award for the musical category. Daniel Day-Lewis won the Best Actor, Drama for his role in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, while Jessica Chastain picked up the award in the female category for Zero Dark Thirty.

The cast of Les Miserables came out winners in various categories, with Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathway winning the awards for Best Actor, Comedy or Musical and Best Supporting Actress respectively. Jennifer Lawrence won the award for Best Actress, Comedy or Musical for her role in Silver Linings Playbook.

Adele and Paul Epworth won the award for Best Original Song for ‘Skyfall’, while Mychael Danna won the award for Best Original Score for his work in Life of Pi. The TV series Homeland won top honors, with Damian Lewis and Clare Danes winning the awards for Best Actor and Best Actress in a TV series respectively.
