Brad Pitt is first male figure to feature in Chanel No.5 ad

French fashion house Chanel has roped in Brad Pitt as the face of their No.5 fragrance. With Pitt in their latest ad campaign, women are no longer the sole flag bearers of the Chanel No.5 brand. The ad was released on Monday October 15, 2012, to mixed reviews from Pitt fans and fashion enthusiasts.

The ad is quite simplistic, with Brat Pitt seen to be casually dressed with long hair and a beard reciting a few lines for the fragrance brand. The black-and-white video has been directed by filmmaker Joe Wright, who is well known for his film ‘Atonement’.

According to reports, the cost of the ad campaign was USD 10 million, of which the ‘Fight Club’ actor allegedly received a whopping USD 7 million, for his few lines. The words that Pitt recites in the ad are as follows “It’s not a journey. Every journey ends, but we go on. The world turns, and we turn with it. Plans disappear, dreams take over. But wherever I go, there you are, my luck, my fate, my fortune. Chanel No.5, inevitable”.

The legendary French designer Coco Chanel launched the fragrance in 1921 and since then it has been one of the most widely recognised brands of perfume. With the ad, Pitt is now the first male spokesperson for the French fashion house. Earlier propagators of the brand included Catherine Deneuve, Nicole Kidman and Audrey Tatou.
