Howard Stern confirmed as judge on American’s Got Talent

Hollywood FAQs: American radio personality and TV host Howard Stern has been roped in to be the judge of the reality show ‘America’s Got Talent’. The NBC network confirmed the news of Stern on the show as the judge on December 15, 2011. Stern, who is known for the daily shows on Sirius XM Radio, will be taking the place of Peirs Morgan. Morgan walked out of the show at the last season and joined CNN as the host of the weeknight interview program Piers Morgan Tonight.

The reports of Stern on the show have been doing the rounds for a while, which has now been confirmed by the network. Howard, who is known as a controversial show host, said that he would give honest opinions and even warned that contestants feelings might be hurt. Meanwhile, the 57-year-old will continue to host his daily radio program and the production of the reality show has been moved to New York so that Stern can manage the radio schedule too.

Stern is known for his sexually explicit usage of foul language and the announcement of the radio personality as the judge drew criticisms from some of the groups and also the fans of the show. The Parents Television Council said that it was an act of desperation for a failing network. The president of PTC, Tim Winter said that Stern is a performer who is synonymous with profanity, shock and obscenity and was not suitable for the prime time network TV show, which is watched by families.

Winter even added that the network will also risk on losing millions on advertising dollars. On the other hand,NBC program chief Paul Telegdy said that the larger than life personality of Stern will bring a new thrilling new dynamic to the show. Stern will be joining the other judges Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne.
